We think of movies and TV mostly as entertainment, but why do some stories touch us on a deeper level? Why do we repeat various versions of some stories over and over? (Coming of age, boy meets girl, hero overcomes all odds.)
Discover Archetypal paths and spiritual symbolism
In many cases it's because these movies illustrate archetypal paths and stories using spiritual symbolism. With them, I believe, we teach ourselves something about the journeys we all share. We get caught up in our daily lives and forget to access our deep wisdom. So, we pass down these stories in an attempt to remind ourselves and each other that we are part of something much more profound and complex.
Because of what I do, I'm very focused on the mythology of coming to consciousness – that quantum leap where we understand our experience in a whole new way.
Four films will guide our study
The movies we'll be viewing are:
4-Week Course Includes Movie Viewings and Discussion
We will meet for 4 consecutive Sundays, and spend about 3 hours together. As we watch the movies, I will call attention to some of the deeper meaning, spiritual symbolism and metaphor and patterns that are illustrated. A short discussion of how to apply this information to your own life will follow, and I'll provide handouts with questions to consider. The next week, we'll spend an hour reviewing your responses.
The more you practice, the more you'll recognize the language of spirituality and patterns of growth in your own life.
This increased awareness will allow you to:- Engage more deeply in the dialogue with the experience of your particular path
- Have a clearer understanding of the meaning and purpose of your experience
- Make better, more conscious choices toward the experience you wish to create
